The Community Empowerment Council partnered with local law enforcement, community organizations, and safety professionals to host the Teen Driving ROADEO, a hands-on learning event designed to prepare new and soon-to-be teen drivers for the road ahead. Families from Jefferson County and surrounding areas joined us for a full day of interactive education, practical demonstrations, and real-world safety guidance.
The ROADEO featured multiple stations that allowed teens to learn important skills they’ll use as they begin driving on their own. Participants rotated through educational areas that covered Graduated Driver Licensing laws, basic vehicle maintenance, sharing the road with semi-trucks, distracted-driving awareness, and mock traffic stops. Each station provided clear, youth-friendly information to help new drivers feel confident and informed.
Local partners—including law enforcement officers, transportation professionals, and community safety organizations—worked together to make the event engaging and accessible for families. Their expertise helped bring driving concepts to life and encouraged teens to ask questions, practice decision-making, and understand the responsibilities that come with being behind the wheel.
Parents also walked away with helpful resources, reminders about safe driving expectations, and guidance on how to support their teens as they transition into independent drivers.
CEC is committed to promoting roadway safety and empowering young drivers with the knowledge they need to stay safe. Events like the Teen Driving ROADEO strengthen community connections, increase awareness, and help build safer roads for everyone.
