The Community Empowerment Council, Inc. is a registered substance abuse Prevention Provider in the state of Arkansas for Region 12. Region 12 consists of Arkansas, Cleveland, Grant, Lincoln, and Jefferson Counties. Prevention is defined as interventions that occur prior to the onset of a disorder that is intended to prevent or reduce the risk for the disorder.
The Regional Prevention Provider provides assistance to communities in developing and implementing substance abuse prevention approaches to reducing risk associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse. Services include a clearinghouse of free pamphlets and brochures, education, tobacco compliance checks, coalition planning, augmenting community policies and laws, collecting data on drug trends, prescription drug take-back events, training for both youth and adult leaders and assistance in program development.
Prevention reduces the risk of unhealthy behaviors while fostering safe, productive environments. Successful prevention leads to the reduction of crime, automobile fatalities, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, addiction, child abuse, family breakups, and violence.
Educate citizens. Empower communities. Encourage collaboration. Enhance prevention efforts through community mobilization to foster a healthy and positive environment.
