On June 23, Community Empowerment Council joined youth leaders and partners at The Wilma Anderson Center for the “Should I RLY?” Youth Conference—a day designed and led by young people from the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County. From planning to facilitation, youth guided the flow, set the tone, and kept the focus on healthy choices, leadership, and using your voice.
The program blended real conversations with hands-on activities that turned ideas into action. Presenters Marcus Tatum and Anthony Tidwell (Cutwell 4 Kids) delivered purpose-filled messages that resonated with teens and mentors alike, challenging everyone to lead with values and make informed decisions.
We’re grateful for the partners who helped make the day seamless. Tiffany Curengton and Super 1 Foods provided generous support that connected key pieces behind the scenes. Sheila Miller kept participants fueled and focused with delicious catering. Staff and volunteers worked quietly in the background so youth could shine out front.
The takeaway was clear: the next generation is already leading—confident, creative, and ready to shape their future.
