Community Empowerment Council joined the Arkansas Gospel Music Heritage Month Celebration at New Life Church in Pine Bluff to highlight prevention in a fun, approachable way. Our team tabled with substance misuse prevention and mental wellness resources and helped with planning to make sure families had easy access to tools they can use right away.
We also facilitated a simple freeze dance game using our speaker and gospel/Christian music. When the music stopped, we tossed out a quick task; the person who finished last answered a short question about prevention, mental health, bullying, or life skills. It stayed light and engaging while opening the door for honest, age-appropriate conversation.
Everyone who participated received a RAAD bag with prevention materials, event T-shirts, and Narcan (naloxone) with brief instructions. Big thanks to the organizers, ministries, artists, and neighbors who made the day welcoming and impactful.
